Case study

Accenture.com

Accenture had a wealth of expertise to publish. Helping readers find the relevant part meant rethinking the pages, the content hierarchy, and the system used to build them.

The Problem

Useful expertise was getting lost in a sprawling website.

The approach

How the work took shape

Start with the reader's route

I worked with content designers to simplify the hierarchy and define the roles of Level 1, 2, and 3 pages. Readers needed a path from a broad topic to useful expertise, downloads, or a relevant contact. The hierarchy gave those paths a clearer shape.

Make room for different stories

I designed wireframes and reusable components for the page types. Teams could assemble different kinds of content while keeping the navigation and interaction patterns familiar. That gave a global publishing organization a shared structure without requiring a custom layout for every story.

Carry the detail into delivery

The new CMS needed more than visual designs. I produced interaction and accessibility guidance, specifications, and HTML/CSS prototypes so the publishing and engineering teams could implement the system consistently. The detail helped connect the templates to how the site would actually be maintained.

The hard parts

The constraint

Many publishing teams had to contribute to one understandable website.

The decision

We organized shared templates and navigation around the reader's needs, with a clear role for each page level.

The constraint

Different stories needed flexibility within the same system.

The decision

I designed modular patterns and documented their content, interaction, and accessibility rules.

Platform Design

Product Design Kit

Product Design Kit

The kit connects page structure, visual choices, accessibility, and implementation guidance.

Article Template

Article Template

The article template gives dense subject matter a clearer reading order and routes to related work.

Homepage System

Homepage System

The homepage system makes room for current stories, expertise, and careers within a shared structure.

The outcome

What changed

The result

  • ✓Improved organic search performance and increased leads from the website.
  • ✓The site was named a 2019 Webby Honoree for best practices.
  • ✓Established reusable page patterns and a design system for global publishing.

Looking back

The component work followed the content work. Knowing what a page was meant to do made its patterns easier to define.

The system had to remain useful to publishers and engineers after the design team moved on. Implementation guidance was part of that responsibility.

Where I contributed

Product

  • Connected page roles and content decisions to search, lead generation, and publishing needs.

Design

  • Designed hierarchy, wireframes, templates, and reusable components.

Engineering

  • Produced HTML/CSS prototypes and accessibility and interaction specifications for the CMS.
